Many students arrive to kindergarten without any prior knowledge of how to read or write. iPads have endless apps and websites that allow students to learn letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and letter blending. Without these major components, children may struggle to lay the foundation that needs to be set in order for them to be strong lifetime readers. This iPad will be used in a literacy station where students will learn how to sound out letters, practice writing letters, and read books. Additionally, this iPad will provide a way to formatively assess student growth more efficiently and provide immediate feedback.
