I teach a great bunch of middle school children in a very impoverished area of West Tennessee. My students are very visual learners and like to interact with technology to prepare them for the skills for college. We are a Title I school that has suffered big budget cuts. We are an iZone school which has been recognized by the state as needing greater oversight for student academic achievement, specifically for us...Reading and Language Arts (RLA). That is where I shine in addition to the culinary side. Because our student body is so under-nourished in nutritional education as well as grammar, it is imperative to have the resources to visually grasp the information that is more difficult to obtain through the textbook. I am not merely a chef instructor I'm a life skills coach. It is my duty as a caring human to improve the literacy of our children.
