This year, I have a wonderful group of students. I see the passion in their eyes for learning. My goal as their teacher is to help them become skillful readers and critical thinkers about text. The 6th and 7th graders assigned to my classes are challenged with reading and comprehending text adequately. Ortiz Middle School, is a Title 1 school with 100% free and reduced lunch participation. The student demographics are 70% Hispanic, 20% African American, 8% Asian, and 2% other.
