I have many students that are visual learners and/or have special needs. Having students of different abilities and needs requires creative lesson planning. In addition, the location of the school makes field trips to museums and other activities difficult. A projector will allow me to engage my students with a different tool that can be used as a sing-a-long, history lesson, field trip, and much more! With a projector, I can play educational songs and videos during transition times to encourage students to move quickly onto the next activity. I can take the students on field trips through visual museum tours without leaving the classroom. I can also play the short lessons that come along with the Scholastic magazine that I purchase for my students each month. A projector will allow me to broaden the horizons of my students by allowing us to explore music, geography, history, literature, and other subjects. Currently, having a range of students complete worksheets at the same time is difficult. With a 23:1 ratio and using a whiteboard, it is hard to clearly explain each problem to the class since we do not have the opportunity for a small group. With a document reader, we can go through the worksheet together, allowing the entire class to see each problem as we work on it as a unit. A document reader and projector will make a dramatic difference in the variety of material I am able to present and broaden the way I can interact with my students. Thank you for your consideration!
