In my school district we serve over 350 pre-k children a year! I have 30 students in my classroom between the ages of 3 - 5 years old. My students engage in free choice centers every day and they LOVE reading and listening to books. I went to our local library and checked out audio books bi-weekly. Last year our tape player broke and we are in need of a new one. Also, I selected a few of their favorite books to have on hand all the time.
