My students are all English Language Learners who attend a school-wide Title I School. They are living in poverty, and most are below grade level in reading and writing, though they are all drawn to exciting texts, like Time For Kids. They love deciphering pictures and inferring about texts. They also love making connections to other texts, the real world, and their own experiences. My students are driven and motivated to increase their literacy skills, and this is a great opportunity to help them progress in the realm of non-fiction.
