In August a new set of Kindergartens will step into the Public School in which I work. Some have attended VPK and for others, it will be the first time they have stepped into a classroom. They come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. From that second on, my goal is to help them become successful individuals. One of the steps in doing this is teaching them that reading is not only important but fun! Building a passion for reading at this young age is extremely important. My past students have walked into the door with comments like "I can't read" to leaving saying "I love reading" and "The best part of Kindergarten was learning to read". The way they absorb and retain knowledge is amazing.
