Nearly every child in my 5th grade class of 27 students will be on free lunch this coming year, and the school itself is in the heart of a very low income community. The students come to class hopeful and excited about learning new things and especially about studying science! However, a textbook can rarely captivate like an experience can. We so rarely get to experience science in a meaningful hands-on way it is a huge treat for the kids when we can make that happen! It is amazing to see the excitement in their faces when they get to 'do real science' and apply their skills and knowledge.

About my class
