My students live in a low income neighborhood in Colorado. My district, nor my school, has the money to bring adequate technology into the classroom. The plan though, as stated by the district, is to have families buy the technology and have the kids "bring their own". This plan does not take into account the financial hardships that my students' family's face. In order to ensure that my students do not fall behind their peers, I have endeavored to work with my colleagues to gain more resources. Presently our group of 150 students have 8 Chromebooks to use. The computer lab is used for testing, and the Netbooks we have are 5 years old, and many do not work. I am hoping that by adding these 3 Chromebooks, that we can eventually have enough technology so that my students to explore the 21st century world. We hear all the time that this is the digital age. I hope that you will help make this statement a reality for my students and our classroom.
