I am a new school librarian in San Mateo County. Many of our students are new to the country or are bused in from other communities. The library should be a safe space, where students are allowed to be goofy, quiet, inquisitive, shy and to just be themselves. My goal is to create an aesthetic environment which is welcoming. I want the students to know that if they are feeling, bad, sad or glad they library is a place where they can safely express their feelings.
