For children, playing is everything -- fun, yes, but also vital for their growth. It's how they explore the world and learn to develop skills like: crawling, talking, walking, building. Blocks and puzzles help children develop spatial thinking, or envisioning where blocks or puzzle pieces go in relation to each other as they build. Blocks & Blueprints Learning Center, Best-Buy Jumbo Building Bricks, and Following Directions Building Set will help build their spatial awareness and get them talking. They get so excited to build towers and structures. I want to give them opportunities to follow a plan for a structure and talk about the steps they are taking as they build. This takes it a step further in learning and crossing curriculum. When my students "play" with blocks it helps them to develop their vocabularies, improves math skills, and even teaches them about gravity, balance, and geometry. The different activities will be a building block for my students to develop these skills as they grow in Kindergarten. The discord during activities will engage their minds as well as the activities themselves. Sight-Word Puzzles, Clear-View Alphabet Stamps, and Learn to Count! Dough Mats build conversations skills and teach students spatial awareness.
