I teach at a public high school in the suburbs. My students come from all backgrounds. I am happy to say that I have many females and minority students signing up for the class. Environmental Science is usually an area dominated by men. These students are very interested in the environment. We need more young adults to take an interest in their Environment. They only have one Earth, and they are the future that has to work hard to sustain it. This is a new class this year in the school. We have have no supplies to get started. The students come from all backgrounds and learning styles. But first and foremost they need the textbooks. This is an AP class so the students will be taking the Environmental Science AP exam in the spring of 2014. I currently have 40+ students signed up for the class. As soon as we offered the class, students couldn't waite to sign up. I'm happy to see interest in such an important subject matter.
