My in-coming second graders are always curious, enthusiastic, and eager to learn new things. I teach at a public, Title 1 school in Washington State. Many of my students qualify for free and reduced lunch and many are ELL learners. The majority of my families don't have the funds to travel, so most of my students never have the opportunity to leave the area, let alone the state. Many think that New York or Kansas are other countries, instead of integral parts of our own country.
