My students are 3rd graders in an inner city school in Maryland. They are spirited and imaginative, and are most engaged when working with a hands-on approach to learning. Therefore, we do a lot of small group activities and station work. Kids have the freedom to explore materials and the responsibility to create a skill-based product. They thrive with this style of instruction, but need many supplies in order to be successful. Due to the level of poverty, as well as other challenges within the school's community, the students are often unable to bring in even basic materials.

About my class
