Park Middle School is a culturally diverse school. Fifty-five percent of the students at Park fall in the category of being a minority. Of these students, 13% are English Language Learners. Students with special needs make up 18% of the 650 students. Included in the cultural diversity of the students, 70% of the student population qualify for free and/or reduced breakfast and lunch prices. Students also receive dinner if they are participants in the after school program sponsored by The Boys and Girls Club of our city and the Community Learning Centers. Park Middle School has been identified by the Nebraska Department of Education as being in Title I School Improvement under the rules of the No Child Left Behind Act. This classification means that the school has not made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for 2 consecutive years. The school has not made the state target goal in reading/math for two consecutive years, which is why it has been identified as in need of improvement.
