My students are an eclectic group of 2nd and 3rd graders in a self-contained structured English immersion class. I am amazed everyday by my students as they work so hard to master the regular school curriculum while also learning to master the English language. These are students who often do not speak or hear any English outside of the school environment. We ask them daily to work hard and overcome all of the obstacles that they face, and they do! One of these obvious obstacles is learning to read a language they can barely speak and are only learning to understand. My students come into class everyday excited and ready to learn. This keeps me excited and ready to teach!
