My students are from all over the world. Some were born in the USA, but their parents speak no English. Others have arrived from camps in Burma, Somalia, Thailand. They possess little schooling background through no fault of their own. As an ELL teacher it is my job to nurture these cultures while educating my students in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. I currently teach roughly 100 students speaking various languages.
