I teach science to four classes of very active 7th and 8th graders in an elementary school. They normally return from lunch or gym "dying of thirst!" There can be many interruptions of classroom instruction because of requests to go to the water fountain. We are in an inner city school in the state of Pennsylvania that is suffering from extreme budget cuts. Many of our students are eligible for the free or reduced breakfast and lunch programs. Our school will have a large influx of new students this September because we are on the list of successful schools to which students from underachieving schools can transfer. This will increase the number of low income students.
