Greetings! Thank you for considering my request. I work at a school of high need and poverty in Asheville, North Carolina. I work two jobs in order to make ends meet. In the afternoon I work as a music instructor and during the day I work as a literacy teacher. Many students have reached the upper grades and are still struggling with reading. They are several years below grade level. I plan on working to change this however I need books! Simple class sets of paperback readers like Charlotte's Web, Hatchet, The Giver etc. Without books how can I teach the children to understand all of the nuances of good literature? Your donation will help to put books directly into the hands of the children so that they can discover the magic of reading. I appreciate any amount you are able to donate as even having one class set of novels would enable us to delve into a book at the beginning of the school year- many thanks!!!!!!!!
