Our main goal this year is to get ready for sixth grade and to successfully master the changes in our school system due to the common core and focus on IB. There are many basic materials that we still need in our classroom to help us be successful, like paper and pencils. There is not even a pencil sharpener on the wall. Due to a recent merger of two low income districts, many students have been moved around from school to school adding to the challenges they already face on a daily basis due to moving frequently and low economic statuses. Because of this, many are not able to come to school with adequate materials to help guide their learning. My very diverse group of fifth graders will benefit from your support in obtaining those materials.
