I teach in a rural community with a poverty rate of 70%. We are a Pre-K-6th grade school in Illinois. My students are hardworking. They are eager to learn and I am trying to give them more resources so they can thrive academically. Unfortunately, reading does not appeal to many of my students. With a new novel and innovative planning, I know I can change their opinions.
