I teach all subjects in a sixth grade class. I have 36 students. 40% of my students are learning English as a second language. 87% of students at our school qualify for free or reduced lunch. This means, these students live at or below the poverty line. My students come from diverse backgrounds and family lives. My students come from different living arrangements, from homeless, multiple families in the home, motel, apartments, or middle class homes. Although my students may come to school with outside challenges, they know their purpose at school is to learn. You'd never know any of my students had these outside challenges, because they are a great group of students.
