I teach in a Title 1 (urban/inner city) school in Connecticut all students receive lunch and breakfast for free. The school is pre-kindergarten through eighth grade (approximately 650 students total). I teach second grade, where I have an excellent group of 18 students, 9 boys, and 9 girls who love coming to school. I have a wide variety of learners in all levels. I have been challenged more so than ever this school year with my highest number of special needs students. All of the students have made such strides this year in both reading and math. This all comes with the classroom having very slow, out of date computers and a smart board that does not work properly. The students lack the diversity of going to plays, museums, vacations, and experiencing the outside world.
