Welcome to the first grade! First graders are eager, ready and willing to try anything! My classroom is filled with 24 sweet seven year olds. We are part of a small close knit school family of 320 children. Our students are almost fifty percent low income, second language learners. No matter, they have grit, determination and positive attitudes. The world in 2016 is one drenched in technology. To be able to be successful in life today demands fluency with all kinds of technology. As a first grade teacher, I know it is necessary to get my "kids" familiar with all kinds of technology. Six year olds are eager to try out anything technological. And, in math, reading, and writing, technology should be part of every day's lessons. My children could make more progress through all content areas if they had chrome books to help reinforce learning, expand knowledge, and experience hands on the "how-tos" technology.
