Pride in personal expression is something all children should experience. In addition to a high poverty level 20% of our population are residing in temporary housing. We are also the only school in the district offering a comprehensive bilingual program, attracting from many new immigrants. Languages spoken at our school include Spanish, Arabic and a number of Sub Saharan languages. Though my students don't have much material wealth their imaginations are rich beyond reason. Our young artists have won many accolades including top honors in city wide recycling efforts for their artistic use of recycled and repurposed materials. They are creative with whatever materials they are lucky enough to find. Every year my students create amazing art from recycled materials, creating beauty from others refuse. They have a firm footing in their own expressive capacities.
