My middle school is a public school located in a low socio-economic community. Students come in with very challenging environments that have shaped their beliefs and in some cases, conditioned their minds and behaviors to expect defeat. In my classroom, education is an equal opportunity for all to flourish and be successful. I refer to my students as "my kids" and I want them to be able to overcome the hurdles that challenge them and become stronger, more well-rounded model citizens. They are such a great group of kids and work hard to show that when the right teacher and instruction comes together, every child, regardless of where they reside, are capable of anything. I want to ensure that they have the best of the best, and that their backgrounds are just a shadow cast to the side of who they truly are. I want students to be conversationalists about current events and issues in our world and I think these resources will be beneficial towards meeting that goal.
