We are very lucky to be in a close-knit rural school where almost every student is known on a first name basis. My class has 8 fourth graders and nine fifth graders who are gaining a love for reading. They set individual monthly reading goals and we have a class goal which requires them to read frequently and take quizzes on books at their personal level. If you walked into my room, you would see students who finish work early, reading independently throughout the class.
