My classroom is part of a public charter network located in an urban environment. I instruct nearly 120 students, both eighth and ninth grade students. So many of my students share their lives in the classroom as they journal, they compare the things we read to their own life experience, and they discuss what similarities can be found between literature and the world around us today.
