I teach in a substantially separate classroom for students diagnosed with PDD / autism, and my students are all wonderful, caring, and kind individuals. Every day they make me smile, whether it is through their acquisition of a new skill, reading a book out loud for the first time, or a simple "Hi Miss Glynn!" paired with a big hug. They continue to impress me with their progress towards their individual academic and social goals. My students do not learn and show their understanding of concepts in the same way as their peers in general education classrooms. As most special educators know, we need to design curriculum and assessment methods that cater to how our students learn. It has been a joy this year uncovering the ways to best showcase my student's potential.
