I have the pleasure of teaching 43 lovely first and second graders on a daily basis. Though they attend school in an area with high poverty in our city, they are still held to high standards and engage in a rigorous curriculum. Every morning, my students enter the classroom bubbly and ready to fill their toolkit of knowledge. My students are jubilant and blooming entrepreneurs! They love to think outside of the box and enjoy expressing their feelings and emotions through writing and drawings. I have stacks of homemade cards and letters from my students. They truly are present and future changemakers! A good percentage of my students face academic and personal challenges on a daily basis. However, as an all-inclusive class, we try to do our personal best and tackle obstacles that come our way. Unfortunately, one category that we have lost the battle to is "writing tools." "Writing tools" include proper ways to organize our writing pieces and utensils for drafting our bright ideas!
