The 5th and 6th graders involved in Battle of the Books are just diving in to this year's titles. In our group, we have a diverse assortment of readers. We have students reading high above their grade level, just on their grade level and some much below their level. We are banking that their excitement and motivation will allow them to gain a good understanding, which would strengthen their ability to score well during the school battles. By choosing to be a part of the BOB club, not only will the kids read titles that they may otherwise never had chosen themselves, they will also greatly benefit by improving their reading skills. Exposure to a variety of reading genres dramatically affects a child's vocabulary and reading fluency.
