My students come to me from many places. Some were born in a hospital 5 miles away while others were born in a small village 10,000 miles away. The school they attend is an inner-city school in a a lower-middle class part of town. More than 85% of the students qualify for free or reduced-lunch. The vast majority of their parents have not graduated from middle-school; however, they want the best for their children and are very supportive of the school. Like most schools, my school is strapped for cash and resources. My students attend school regularly and stay after school for academic assistance. They complete their homework regularly and are thirsting for the knowledge that we are providing. Given challenging activities and caring teachers, my students have the same potential for success as all students world-wide.
