My students come from various backgrounds. Many are from single parent homes and are on free or reduced lunch. There are days that students come to school not prepared and are very hungry. I always try to keep school supplies and snacks handy for any child that may need it. Students want to learn and have a deep desire to do better in class. However, there are many factors that contribute to these students not being high achievers. This city school is located in a somewhat low income area near downtown Atlanta. As an educator I feel it is my duty and responsibility to go beyond the call of duty for all of my students.
