I teach eighth grade mathematics to a group of vibrant young individuals in a public school. We have a diverse population in both culture and socio-economic levels. Our students come from working class households with varying parental involvement. I cannot expect all students to bring colored paper to class as a part of the class supplies. I try to provide students with colored paper, makers, colored pencils, and scissors.
