My fifth graders live in a world filled with color and action but in the classroom they are forced to work with what they have which is very limiting. I utilize an overhead that is probably as old or older than the teacher. A projector would be a great way to bring the live action, color and excitement of the world. The learners are not asking for this because they are not aware of the endless possibilities that his tool might have in the classroom. My class is composed of 27 who all qualify for the free lunch program and live in the Pilsen-Little Village area of Chicago. The projector can be a great way to entice students in various areas of study like Social Studies and Science. They are all aware of the iPad and iPod but this tool is something that can have a daily impact in the lives of these young learners. My students are hard working and dedicated but need better tools to reach the end goal which is graduating from a university.
