I teach primary special education in an undeserved, public, urban school on the Soureadinessth Side of Chicago. Ten wonderful and kind students in grades kindergarten through fourth are pulled from their general education classrooms each day for literacy and math instruction. Majority of my students are kinesthetic learners and benefit from using manipulatives and hands-on activities in our classroom. The students work well in a group setting, are respectful of each other, and are constantly hearing about €œcollege readiness.€ One of the main focuses at our school is getting all of our students in the college mindset. I want all my students to go to college. I want them to have an unforgettable learning experience. I want them to have the tools and resources that many children in American are fortunate enough to have.
