My students come from a diverse background of experiences and education levels. A larger percentage of the students who attend my high school are on free or reduced price lunch and many of them are English Language Learners. Our school offers a variety of courses in a wide-range of topics and levels in order to promote and foster student learning. Many of them have a natural curiosity for science but a majority of them need additional encouragement to engage with the material. Giving students hands-on activities to promote this interaction with the subject-matter is one way that engagement is achieved. Keeping students safe while doing so is also of the utmost importance.
