I am reaching out to you on behalf of MBA's first cheerleading team. Young girls of today face new and difficult challenges that their previous generations did not. As these young women embark on their journey to adulthood, it is our responsibility to foster a culture of independence and empowerment. Over the years, cheerleading has evolved from an activity to a serious sport; it has become a force that cultivates powerful women. Unfortunately, New York City public school programs are diminishing due to lack of funding, but not for lack of enthusiasm. I am requesting funding to provide uniforms, as a cheerleader isn’t a cheerleader without her uniform. A uniform is not only for homogeny, but also to portray a message of solidarity. 15 uniforms can transform this eager group of girls into the cheerleading dream team.
