When I implemented flexible seating last year in my classroom, I was taking a risk and trying something new. I would never have thought that I would enjoy it this much. I do not ever plan to go back to regular hard chairs. My students love having a choice of where to sit every day. I have tried several different types of seats within the past year, but have not found something my students can use to sit on the actual floor. As a teacher, when I go to workshops and training all day, my first thought is what kind of learning environment will I be in? Will I have to sit on hard chairs or are we going to be in a more relaxed setting? As an adult, I tend to learn better when I'm not concentrating on wiggling around in my seat because it's uncomfortable. Students are no different. They will be more involved in their learning if they are comfortable. The Flex-Space Comfy Floor Seats will benefit my students as we are working in small groups around the room. We do a lot of partner/group work in 2nd grade and these would be much cleaner to sit on than the old run-down carpet in our classroom.
