Our school is located in inner-city of Chicago, Illinois. 83% of our student are low-income and are representative of diverse linguistic and culturally heritages. Our students have enormous potential to transform their lives. The biggest challenge I face, is teaching them how to unlock that potential. Each day I must help my students understand that failure and obstacles allow them to grow academically and becoming people that will change the world. Many of our students are born into immigrant families that have close partnerships with our school and teachers. Strong collaboration among families and teachers impact students' academic, and social-emotional growth. Unfortunately, socio-economic barriers prevent students from having access to technology outside of school. In a school of over 600 students, teachers and students have access to 100 computers that are shared communally throughout the school building. Equitable access to technology resources are crucial for students.
