Our school is located in a high poverty region of our city, with many people not venturing out to our part of town. The students know this fact and some feel like outcasts. For many, art is the class where they can discover what they like, what they are good at, and get lost in the moment of pure creation. This experience builds confidence and helps students in their core classes. Many students get frustrated easily when something doesn't go their way. I hope with printmaking they can see that their finished product can be expressed in many ways, just like them.

About my class
