My students are low-income sponges waiting to be drenched in technology & to let their stifled imaginations explore the word outside of their rough community! My students are 7th & 8th graders primarily from low-income 2 & 3 job working families. They are intelligent & imaginative without the means to explore beyond their small community. Our students have raised thier API scores by double digits for the last 3 years due to their hard work & effort. This is a testament to the amazing potential my students have if they only have the means. Many of my students spend their weekend or time after school at the public library to be able to use the computer. Our students are in leadership, AVID (working to go to college), run the school newsletter, create the school yearbook, fundraise all year, participate in clubs & more, not because they have to but because they want to. They deserve every opportunity to be prepared for High School & well beyond regardless of their financial circumstances.
