I teach 3rd grade at a STEM school in an underprivileged community. My classroom has limited resources since it's the first school year of a brand new school. The focus of the STEM curriculum is to allow students to engage in learning through hands on interactions with technology. Their eyes twinkle when they work in cooperative groups and display their knowledge through projects and hands on inquiries such as the The Magic School Bus - Chemistry Lab and Forensic Hair Analysis kit that I am requesting. Students will be ecstatic when learning about recycling and being able to build a robot from the Tin Can Robot Kit. I recently had my students work in groups to learn about the probability in Mathematics, but they had trouble catching on to the concepts because there was no visual support. The Spinner Collection Set and Activities with Dice will allow me to re-teach this lesson with these tools to give my students a fun experience with a visual outcome.
