My class of first graders are a diverse population in a low-income area. Over half of my class are second language learners. Many of my students are struggling at reading. They are a bunch of great children who want to succeed in school but they do not have good reading fluency and they are not comprehending what they are reading. Many do not have the resources available to practice these skills at home.
