I have been teaching for 4 years, all at my current school. We are about 40% FARMS, very multicultural, and we cultivate readers as thinkers. My students are eager, enthusiastic, and love sharing their ideas during read-alouds. They often change my thinking and point out new ideas. My students read independently or with partners every day. A lot of their reading is retelling books we have read as a class. For this reason, Big Books would be a prized item for them. My class has grown to capacity, and fitting 25 little bodies around one small book is just unacceptable to me. Having large books and putting books in children's hands is critical to inspiring their love of literature!
