I am very excited about the upcoming school year. I am looping to first grade with my kindergartners from last year. My students attend a school where over 80% of students receive free and reduced lunch. Over half of the student population speak English as a Second Language. Many of my students come to Kindergarten speaking little or no English and have never heard a story read aloud to them. On top of these obstacles, many of my students face the challenges of poverty (hunger, single-working parents, parents in jail, etc.) Despite the burdens they carry at such an early age, my students are EXCITED to learn! They love books, they love reading, and they love writing and telling their own stories.

About my class
