My student-athletes are hungry to learn and and acquire new skills in tennis. They want to be a part of a team that collectively improves; they want to be be proud when they complete with other teams. To be frank, many of them have never played tennis or held a tennis racquet; they come from a very high poverty neighborhood with limited athletic resources. Regardless, they are committed to joining the High School tennis team, and I feel a strong ethical obligation to ensure they have what they need to succeed. I want to show them how much they can grow given their efforts and passion.
