I teach physics and chemistry to students who at most schools would never come close to a science classroom. We are asking for 3 Chromebooks to add to our growing class set. Anything that I could possibly teach them is out there on the web and rather than tell them facts, I encourage them to find them and publish what they learn about alternative energy and green technology. If the teacher is familiar with Google's apps for education, students can easily use chromebooks to create their own websites to publish digital word, create lessons on youtube to help other students, keep digital journals in a learning blog, and report out to parents progress/concepts mastered or projects completed. The lack of a hardware computer and operating systems allows for instant start up and 10 hr battery life! Finally due to tech proficiency, the district has installed a wireless network exclusively to improve digital learning.
