North Olmsted values our children as a whole and encourages them to be their best self. As a Title I school with 41% of our students being eligible for free or reduced lunch, they face many hardships beyond the classroom. As a STEM educator, I recognize the importance of preparing these children for a future beyond school. There is a huge disconnect between the students and their understanding of how science fits into their lives, thus creating a generation of students who continue to believe the most common misconceptions about themselves and the world around them. These students can and do desire to learn, but they often lack the community and home support to continue their education beyond school walls. As a district, science initiatives are put in place to increase student understanding and achievement, and funding this project will support those goals.
