My two classes of second graders here deep in the heart of Texas have about twenty students each. My ESL classes are quite varied in its reading and writing skills--from very low (pre-primer) to over an entire grade level above. I have three different home languages spoken--Vietnamese, Spanish, Urdu as well as English. Most of the students are on the Free and Reduced Lunch Program in my class as well as in our Title I school.
